Irancy
Soil type :
In the Grand Auxerrois, the village of Irancy is located on the right bank of the Yonne river, about fifteen kilometers south of Auxerre and southwest of Chablis.
This is one of the most typical villages of the Auxerrois vineyard, which received in 1999 the level of appellation Village IRANCY, confirming its qualities.
The vineyard looks like an amphitheatre around the village, protecting the vines from the cold, from the cold north winds and whose very stony soils, admirably restore the heat.
The subsoil dates from the Upper Jurassic and is composed of Kimmeridgian clay rich in Exogyra Virgula, as in Chablis, shaded by brown limestone soils where the Pinot Noir grape variety flourishes between 130 and 250 meters of altitude.
Coming from the Veauchassy parcel, the grapes of this vintage benefit from from a beautiful South/South-West exposure.
Wine making process :
Manual harvest in pierced boxes,
Cold pre-fermentation maceration,
Pneumatic pressing,
Spontaneous alcoholic and malolactic fermentation,
and ageing in oak barrels for 16 months.
Tasting:
This wine shows delicate aromas of red fruits :
cherry, raspberry.
The mouth confirms the nose, with a chiselled attack.
This is an ample and harmonious wine.
A toasted finish which reminds us of the ageing of Burgundy oaks.
A wine of immediate pleasure that will accompanied grilled red meats, poultry such as pigeon or duck
