Jean Collet & Fils – Chablis Village 2023 :
The 2023 Chablis Village has a more floral bouquet White flower hints complement the citrus fruit. The palate is lively ans fresh, with good concentration and a touch of bitter lemon with ample weight on the finish for a Village Cru. A competent Chablis at the BIVB tasting in Chablis.

Jean Collet & Fils – Chablis Valmur Grand Cru 2022 :
The 2022 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru has a touch of reduction on the nose, but i appreciate the marine influence here : Oyster shell and a tang of seaweed. The palate is well-balanced, with a keen thread of acidity and judicious use of oak. Smooth in texture, almost creamy towards the finish, it contains plenty of Energy with a hint of pralines on the finish. It should age with style. Tasted it blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis.

Jean Collet & Fils – Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru 2022 :
The 2022 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru is another wine that shows the mark of oak on the nose, though again, it just needs time to be subsumed. The palate is quit concentrated with lime, pithy pear and touches of peach skin. There is plenty of extract here, but i appreciate the acidic thread that keeps it tensile on the finish. I’m intrigued to see how this will age in bottle. Tasted it blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis.

Jean Collet & Fils – Irancy Veauchassy 2022 2022 :
The 2022 Irancy Veauchassy sees 16 months in oak barrels. It has a bright bouquet of crushed strawberries. Perhaps it’s not quite as complex as the best in the vintage, yet it has charm. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy entry, bright black cherries and strawberry fruit with a very cohesive and silky smooth. Very polished. Excellent. Tasted it blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis.

Jean Collet & Fils – Chablis Vallée de Valvan 2022 :
The 2022 Chablis Vallée de Valvan has a pleasing bouquet. Red apple, Anjou pear and crushed limestone unfold in the glass. It is not terribly complex but focused. The palate is well-balanced with commendable weight and fruit concentration. I appreciate the spiciness that is controlled but lends another facet to the finish. A light round of applause, please. Tasted it blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis.

Jean Collet & Fils – Chablis Montmains 1er Cru 2022 :
The 2022 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru has a rather simple nose, considering the vineyard in question. it doesn’t really engage. The palate is rounded on the entry, has low acidity and is lighty honeyed with an easygoing/easy-drinking finish. Tasted it blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis.

Jean Collet & Fils – Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru 2022 :
The 2022 Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru feels a little diluted on the nose and lacks the complexity of its peers. The palate is straightforward and rather monotone with a dour finish below par. Tasted it blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis.
Note (Score): 82/100
Jean Collet & Fils – Chablis Valmur Grand Cru 2020 :
The 2020 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru has a sublime bouquet with lemon sherbet, crushed stone and light petrichor scents. The oak is beautifully intgrated. The palate is frsh and tensile on the entry, edgy in a good way thanks to that citric bad of acidity. It attenuates slightly towards the finish, but it has such sapidity that you canot resist returning for more. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Jean Collet & Fils – Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru 2020 :
The 2020 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru has a focused and energetic bouquet with discretely integrated new oak, fine delineation and terroir expression, plus hints of stucked Oyster shells and petrichor. The palate is fresh on the entry with a judicious touch of spice, cohesive with neatly integratd oak. This builds towards the finish that feels harmonious and tensile. The 2020 is a fine Montée de Tonnerre that should age with grace. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Jean Collet & Fils – Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru 2020 :
The 2020 Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru has a competent nose, although there is Something a little generic about it. I would have liked a little more delineation. Returning to the glass after ten minutes, it appears to have last some of its initial vigor. The palate is well-balanced with an attractive, slightly resinous texture on the entry. It has fine weight and lenght, yet it is just missing the complexity and mineralité that connote a top-Notch Chablis. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
